It is NOT case-sensitive and allows wildcard characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For case-sensitive search use the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.test4u.eu\/excelpedia\/the-find-function\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"FIND  (opens in a new tab)\">FIND <\/a><\/strong>function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The syntax of the function is the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> <strong>SEARCH<\/strong><em>(<strong>find_text<\/strong><span><b>, within_text, [start_num]<\/b><\/span><\/em>) <\/p><cite><span><b><strong>find_text<\/strong><\/b><\/span><strong>: <\/strong>The text you are searching for.<br><strong>within_text<\/strong>: The text containing the text you are searching for. <br><strong>[start_num]<\/strong>: Optional. The starting position within the string of the <strong>within_text <\/strong>argument, from which the search will begin. The default value is 1 (the first character of the <strong>within_text <\/strong>string). <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If <strong>find_text <\/strong>is an empty string SEARCH returns the start_num of the search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If <strong>find_text <\/strong>is not found then the #VALUE! error is returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> If <strong>start_num <\/strong>is less than or equal to zero, or if it is greater than the length of the <strong>within_text <\/strong>string then the #VALUE! error is returned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the wildcard characters, question mark (?) and asterisk (*), in criteria.
